Taekwondo is a Korean martial art, with a full library of self-defense techniques and concepts, characterized by its emphasis on the strength of kicking. The mastery of grace, technique, coordination, speed and power of the human body’s longest reaching weapon. Jumping and spinning kicks, fast and dynamic kicking techniques are the signature of Taekwondo. Developed during the 1940s and 1950s by various martial artists, Taekwondo incorporates elements of Karate and Chinese martial arts with indigenous Korean martial arts traditions such as Taekkyeon, Subak, and Gwonbeop. The main international organizational bodies for Taekwondo today are the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), and the partnership of the Kukkiwon and World Taekwondo Federation (WTF), founded in 1972 and 1973 respectively by the Korea Taekwondo Association. The governing body for Taekwondo in the Olympics is the World Taekwondo Federation. Kyorugi, a type of full-contact sparring, has been an Olympic event since 2000. Taekwondo is now one of the most widely practiced martial arts systems in the world and Taekwondo techniques have since permeated to pop culture,film and have been an exciting addition to mixed martial arts contests.

Team One Martial Arts is a proud member of the World Taekwondo Federation, Taekwondo Canada, the BC Taekwondo Federation and is in lineage of the historic Chung Do Kwan, one of the original 5 Taekwondo schools. Students of Team One are eligible to participate in all tournaments sanctioned by the above official organizations. Team One Martial Arts is proud to teach the Kukkiwon/WTF style of Taekwondo, and places its curriculum at the heart of our program.

Team One Martial Arts’ Taekwondo Program proudly combines technique, conditioning and fun, all into one exciting class set in a team environment. Students enjoy themselves in our classes, while receiving properly structured, detailed instruction in a dynamic, Olympic sport. Team One aims to motivate students of all ages in a proper environment to learn and develop mental discipline, physical abilities and self confidence. As each student has their own journey within martial arts, we hope to inspire students to dedicate themselves to achieving levels at their own pace, with the end result being the true satisfaction of earning their goal through determination and commitment.

To create your Taekwondo program, choose the appropriate age group category in the table below. Then select either Beginner (Beg.) or Advanced (Adv.) level. This timeslot will be the main, regular Taekwondo class curriculum. Supplement your regular classes with competition Sparring and/or Poomse for a premier Taekwondo program.

Team One Martial Arts offers a year-round, full-time Taekwondo program in 6, or 12-month memberships. Membership dues must be paid monthly via pre-authorized debit. Any cancellations must be made with 30-days, written notice to the management to avoid a one-month penalty.
